A large painting in the lobby of Rockland Trust Bank’s Westford branch features the iconic facade of the J.V. Fletcher Library. The piece, by regional artist Tom Gill, depicts an Apple Blossom Parade float passing in front of the building.

“The library is an important part of the Westford community,” said First Vice President and District Manager Cheryl Serpe. “The renovation will expand and improve access for everyone.”

Rockland Trust has a strong commitment to community. “We are a very local bank,” said Cheryl. “We feel it is important to have a presence in the towns where we do business.” Community Relations Director Alison Burns agreed. “We encourage all our employees to serve in the community in some way,” she said. “We try to find opportunities that our colleagues are passionate about, and the Bank allows us time to participate.” Staff sit on boards of local organizations, assist with special projects like trail clean-up days, and help organize initiatives like the collection of used prom dresses for Belle of the Ball

Cheryl is a long-time Westford resident who says being able to help make local organizations stronger is a source of pride for her. An avid reader, she recalls going to the library frequently with her children when they were younger. “The library is a great meeting place – whether you are working on a project or browsing for pleasure,” she said. These days, she often borrows eBooks.

Alison said Rockland’s dedication to community giving and engagement “helps strengthen the communities we serve and our relationships with clients and community members. It’s right there in our tagline – ‘Where each relationship matters’.”

Rockland Trust is a full-service community bank offering an array of products and services for individuals, businesses of all sizes, and non-profit organizations.

The Foundation greatly appreciates Rockland’s support of the building project.
